TED-ED
Creating a truly innovative platform for learning.
The good folks at TED turned to us when they decided to leverage the power of their beloved brand to make a meaningful impact in classrooms across the globe.
With a wealth of TED-Ed user-generated content at its core, we designed a playful online experience for both educators and students, reconnecting them with the joy and discovery of learning. The platform gives teachers the ability to create lesson plans around any TED-Ed or YouTube video, add their own comprehension checks, and see real-time performance statistics for each student.

XPrize
Empowering future philanthrophy.
The now legendary $10 million Ansari X Prize literally incentivized the private spaceflight industry to take off - a necessary disruption following closure of the NASA's Space Shuttle program. Following the Ansari prize, X Prize created competitions in a variety of industries - healthcare, oil, automotive, and genomics - and needed a showcase to help tell their story to new and existing investors.
Deemed a conversation starter by the X Prize Alliances Team, we designed a site, customized for the iPad, that would demonstrate the achievements of the organization, presenting X Prize's goals as awe-inspiring, yet tangible and fully actionable.

Together
Connecting & Inspiring Students Across the Globe.
A Hundred Years is honored to have helped create together, a peer-learning and mentorship platform that connects students who only recently gained access to the Internet with peers and mentors from across the world.
Our goal is to provide a meaningful learning experience for these students by bringing one-on-one human interaction into the world of digital education.

NASA
Focusing the great telescopic eye on media-rich experiences.
Is it possible to replicate the wonder of space in an online experience? That's what we wondered, when we thought about how to create an environment highlighting the Spitzer Space Telescope. Bringing together Spitzer's vast collection of space imagery, HD Video Podcasts, News from the Mission, and a Blog sharing the voice of the Spitzer Team, we took delight in communicating the majesty of the cosmos for space enthusiasts to enjoy, and share.

LACMA
Translating the museum into web and mobile experiences.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art turned to us to completely re-imagine their digital presence and our approach was threefold.
We developed a mobile app for visitors to probe deeply into the museum's collection both onsite and off, a virtual reading room optimized for tablet and web, showcasing the museum's extensive catalog of scholarly publications, along with a new storefront on the web.

Esri
Evolving product and marketing communication.
The leading geographic information system (GIS) software company came to A Hundred Years with the challenge of invigorating their approach to a main channel of communication on the web: the News section of the company's web site.
Working closely with internal marketing, editorial, product, and web teams, we defined a content strategy focused on revealing the pulse of Esri, and rigorously tested and iterated our designs. The end result? Truly engaging information bites that reveal Esri's current initiatives, product launches and user activity in a stream across various social media channels.

Project Audience
Illuminating the cultural landscape with rich data.
With cultural programming as vital as ever, the Project Audience consortium has embarked on an endeavor to encourage community involvement by developing collaborative, affordable and sustainable tools to help local, regional, and national-level arts service organizations. We created the brand identities for both Project Audience and the pilot project Experience SoCal, as well as designed the interface for the Experience SoCal Pilot Calendar web app.
Executive Creative Director, Zach Szukala, talks about the design approach - Topography & Fluidity, Experience SoCal Premieres. -
iSlate
Unlocking the potential of peer-to-peer learning via technology
iSlate is a low-cost learning tablet developed by RICE University and NTU in Singapore to facilitate teacherless education in regions that deal with a scarcity of educators – or no teachers at all.
RICE and NTU approached us to focus on the iSlate’s user interface, but we were so taken by the scope of their vision that we built the project out even further, infusing a human element by initiating a peer-to-peer mentoring component, linking students in rural India up with peers in Los Angeles.
Our partner, the educational non-profit organization, 826LA, recently published a book of stories from the students that participated in our pilot.

Glow
Gathering hundreds of thousands around public art.
200,000 visitors in '08, another 150,000 in '10 - without any traditional advertising. Imagine that. Acting as marketing and communications partner for Glow, a public art happening, our efforts were integral to the tremendous draw at both events.
Captivated by the exciting mix of technology, art and performance, visitors stayed out all night delighting in the likes of works such as Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's Sandbox and Usman Haque's Primal Source, among others.
